What brown spots can be treated with the Pico Genesis™ treatment?

Lentigo or age spots that appear with age and the sun, on the hands, décolleté and of course the face.

Certain pigmented lesions, such as café au lait spots, Becker's nevi, and Ota nevi, can also benefit from treatment with this nanosecond or pico second Laser.

In the case of diffuse pigmentation such as pregnancy masks or melasma, the low-fluence, high-frequency Pico Genesis laser remains one of the most effective lasers.

How the Enlighten III® laser works

The device emits very short pulses of the order of a Pico second (1 million times shorter than a traditional Q-Switched laser) to create photoacoustic waves that stimulate pigment elimination and skin repair. Under the effect of the light emitted, the melanin breaks down into tiny particles that are eliminated or absorbed into the body. The procedure is athermal, takes just a few minutes to perform and causes no pain.

How many sessions are required?

Two to three PICO Genesis™ sessions are recommended to achieve optimal results. Maintenance treatments will be required to maintain long-term results. Your specialist will suggest a treatment plan during your consultation.

What parts of the body can be treated?

PICO Genesis™ is an ideal treatment for the face and neck but all parts of the body with sun damage and/or other visible pigmentation can be treated too.

What can I expect from an Enlighten III® treatment and what does it feel like?

The specialist will begin by cleaning the area to be treated and then placing the laser tip on the skin. The pain felt is comparable to that of a rubber band snapping against the skin. Most patients do not find the treatment uncomfortable. Immediately after treatment, cold air (Zimmer® system) will be blown over the treated area to reduce the risk of any erythema. The treated area should also be kept out of the sun and the patient should apply sun cream. If necessary, your specialist will recommend additional care.

Are there any side effects?

Some patients experience slight redness and swelling immediately after treatment. These side effects are temporary and usually disappear within a few hours. After several days, the pigment appears darker. This sign is temporary and indicates that the treatment has worked́. The darker spots will be exfoliated within a few days.
